After coming down off of Sangre De Cristos...we drove towards Arkansas Valley and camped at Ruby Mountain Campground in Nanthrop, CO. Woke up to these views the following morning!!! Had a panoramic view of the collegiate peaks from camp...
We spend the day relaxing, and recovering...we head into Buena Vista...enjoyed lunch by the Arkansas River, stopped in Deerhammer Distillery and Eddyline Brewery. Then we traveled to St. Elmo to visit a Ghost Town...
We fed the squirrels for an hour or so...these little guys just come up to you, no fear...They are used to humans feeding them for years and years...fun to watch the climb over everyone.
Needless to say, I was absolutely exhausted...I took a nap up here...I dont take naps.
After St Elmo's, we drove down the road and found this spot in the river...We hung out here for a while...learning to fly fish. It was so neat watching everyone work the rod...I was really excited for Hannah...who loves fishing. Thanks Chad for coaching us...I want to start fly fishing
All in all, it was a quick long weekend in the mountains...couple days in back-country, bagging peaks, camping under the stars...hanging out with friends. It's my perfect place...
