Christmas ski trip

What: Ski Monarch, Christmas in Salida, CO.
Who: Pasquel family.
Why: Why not.
When: 12/22-12/26/18
First day in CO, we tried to board the Sand Dunes. Went to Alamosa to rent sleds and boards and headed up to the dunes. The second we arrived, a nasty snow storm with high winds hit the dunes. We turned back...of course, back in San Luis Valley, we see the storm pass and the sun hit the dunes.
We lodged in Salida. We stayed in the historic district at the Speakeasy condo and it was great. The building was built in 1890's and the condo used to be a bar during prohibition. Salida is great. We typically blow through this place on our way out of town from BV, or stop in nearby Poncha Springs for brews at Elevation Brewing...but we spent time in this town for the first time. We loved it. It has great coffee, awesome pizza joints...
Amica's Pizza is amazing and was recommended by a friend...we will return.
It was the girls first time skiing or boarding. They took lessons thanks to their Tia Erika and Tio Adam. They picked it up and although they fell quite a bit, they did get better throughout the trip. The girls had a blast and love it...
