The Pine Line 5.9+, Vallecito Lake, Weminuche Wilderness

The Pine Line 5.9+ 7 pitch climb

Pine River Canyon, Bayfield, CO...off the Vallecito Resovoir, in the Weminuche Wilderness.

Climbed with Brad Hardin. Jeremy Hendrix and Harold Bradley partnered up.

Camped at TH of Pine River Canyon. Setting is beautiful. Whoever owns this ranch is incredibly blessed with some of the best land in all the country...if not world.

Approach: About 1.5 hrs. First mile and half is really easy following property line. Relatively flat and then it is brutal. 1000' total elevation with majority of the trail elevation coming at the final 1/2 mile...which is on a climber's trail, some bushwacking, Trail is not an established trail...a legit climber's trail. There are cairns along the way.

Climbing is fantastic.

First pitch is crux...5.9+ and the crux moves is in a finger crack. The rock is a conglomerate rock. This route is an adventure route. It wanders and the ledges are nice and big, comfy. All pitches have anchors/bolts.
